We collect nothing.

Last updated 28 April 2026

Breaks runs entirely on your Mac. The app does not send anything to us, to any third party, or anywhere else. There is no account, no sign-in, no email gate. Nothing about how you use Breaks leaves your machine.

What stays on your device

Breaks stores its settings and history in macOS UserDefaults under the bundle identifier com.gjinprelvukaj.Breaks. That includes your timer durations, focus journal entries, streak history, sounds, hotkeys, break suggestions, optional calendar export settings, and similar preferences. None of it is transmitted.

Notifications, when enabled, are delivered locally by macOS. Breaks does not generate push notifications from a server.

Calendar export, when enabled, writes completed focus sessions to the calendar you choose through Apple's local EventKit APIs. Breaks does not upload those events or read them for analytics.

What we don't collect

  • No analytics, no metrics, no telemetry.
  • No crash reports sent to us.
  • No advertising identifiers, ever.
  • No location, contacts, photos, or files.
  • No calendar access unless you turn on Calendar export.
  • No accounts, emails, names, or device identifiers.

This website

The site you're reading is hosted on GitHub Pages and serves static HTML, CSS, and a couple of fonts. It uses no cookies, no analytics, and no third-party trackers. GitHub may keep standard server-side request logs for the hosting itself; those logs are governed by GitHub's own privacy statement.

App downloads

When you download a release, GitHub serves the file. GitHub may log that download server-side. Once the app is on your Mac, there's no further contact between Breaks and us.

Your data, your control

To wipe everything Breaks knows about you, run this in Terminal:

defaults delete com.gjinprelvukaj.Breaks

That clears all preferences and journal data. Uninstall by dragging Breaks.app out of /Applications.

Children

Breaks is intended for general audiences. Because we collect nothing, no information about anyone, including children, is gathered.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated date at the top of this page will change too. Substantive changes will be noted in the project changelog on GitHub.
