The short version.
Last updated 28 April 2026
Breaks is a free, open-source side project. Use it however helps you, share it, fork it, build on it. The friendly summary is below; the precise rules are at the bottom.
The friendly version
- You can install, use, and share Breaks at no cost.
- You're responsible for what happens on your own Mac.
- Updates ship when they ship. There's no guaranteed schedule.
- If something doesn't work, an issue on GitHub is the right place. We read them but don't promise a fix or a reply.
- Don't pretend Breaks is yours. Don't ship it as your own product, and don't use the name or icon to imply we endorse something we don't.
License
The Breaks source code is released under the MIT License. That license governs your right to copy, modify, distribute, and use the code. Read it; it's twenty lines.
The legal bit
The app is provided "as is." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we make no warranties or representations of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise. That includes any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or accuracy of data.
You use Breaks at your own risk. You are solely responsible for backing up your data, configuring the app to suit your workflow, and verifying that it does what you need it to do before relying on it.
No liability. Under no circumstances will the author be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, Breaks or this website. This includes lost productivity, lost data, missed sessions, missed deadlines, or any other claim, even if the author has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
No support obligation. Use of Breaks does not create any duty to provide support, fixes, updates, or future versions. New versions appear when we feel like shipping them.
Trademarks. "Breaks," the Breaks icon, and the visual identity used across this site remain the property of the author. The MIT license does not transfer those rights. Don't use them in a way that suggests endorsement, partnership, or origin you don't have.
Third parties. Breaks runs inside macOS, distributed through GitHub. Your use of those services is governed by Apple's and GitHub's own terms, not ours.
Changes. These terms may change. Continued use of the app or website after a change counts as acceptance. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page tracks the most recent revision.
Severability and governing law. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Where a governing law is required, the laws of the author's country of residence apply, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
Tldr
Free app, MIT code, no warranties, no liability, no support promises. Don't impersonate the project. Have fun.
